Juvenile Expungement

Guidelines on a Pennsylvania Juvenile Record Expungement

A Pennsylvania juvenile record does not automatically disappear when a juvenile reaches adulthood.

Who Has a Juvenile Record?

If you have been accused of a crime in Pennsylvania while under the age of 18, you may likely have a juvenile record.  Regardless of the outcome of the criminal charges, there may be a juvenile record by virtue of your arrest record while you were a minor.

In Pennsylvania, the expungement of juvenile records is covered by 18 Pa Cons. Stat. Section 9123. The expungement of a juvenile record in Pennsylvania is especially important given that a juvenile record is taken into consideration for any future adult criminal sentences and may limit certain future opportunities for young people. Contrary to public opinion, juvenile records do not disappear when a child reaches age 18 or 21.
